Welcome to the Lucky Stitch Upholstery shop website. My name is Jason and I'm the owner, manager, secretary and laborer around here. That's right the guy you talk to on the phone is the same guy that picks up your furniture and does all the work. I decided to strike out on my own after working in the upholstery trade for many years here in Staunton. I started my career at the Ye Olde Upholstery Shoppe and have been a full time upholsterer ever since. Quality and craftsmanship are paramount so whether its a family heirloom or something you found along side the road I guarantee you'll be satisfied. Rebuilding furniture from the ground up is no problem, loose frame to the finishing touches I have you covered.

It's important to know how much labor will cost as well as how much fabric you'll need. A good first step is to text or email me a photo. Keep in mind that fabric costs will greatly affect the overall cost of your project. Fabric prices range from about $10 per yard to hundreds per yard.
It's not uncommon for me to book jobs months in advance so the sooner you book your project the better. I operate on a first come first serve basis.
If you haven't already picked out fabric now is the time. You may buy fabric from me or from any reputable dealer. I do not charge extra for client provided fabrics however you must provide me with quality upholstery grade fabric.
I will pick up your furniture when I am ready to begin your project. This will allow you to continue using your furniture during the time leading up to the pick up date I can bring a helper (fee applies) to load your project or you can help. Fees will apply depending on your loction. Clients in Staunton will pay less than clients in Charlottesville due to travel times. Another popular option is to drop off your furniture in Staunton avoiding pick up fees altogether.
You should expect delivery of you finished project in two weeks or less, unless other arrangements have been disscused. The process is simply the reverse of picking it up. I do not store furniture nor will I pick up your projects much in advance. Payment is due in full upon delivery.
What may appear to be a simple padding issue, is often times the sign of a much needed repair. Hopefully, this section will help you diagnose what might be going on inside your furniture. Keep in mind that more times than not these problems co exist. It is not uncommon to find all of these issues living beneath the same piece of upholstery.
When the bottom falls out its past time for new webbing. Webbing holds everything up, when it fails the seat collapses, rendering your furniture useless. If you have older furniture that has never been rewebbed you should consider having it done during the reupholstering process. It is not a hard fix, in fact, it is by by far the easiest of all the failures to repair.
This could easily be what caused that sink hole to form in your favorite chair. When the material covering the springs deteriorates, it allows the padding to fall into the hollow the springs occupy. Over time more and more padding falls through causing bigger holes to form.
When the twine holding your coil springs in place fails, the springs are allowed to freely move about. You do not want springs to do as they please as they can be rather mischievous. The best way to fix this problem is the 8 way tie. This allows the most control over the springs and makes for a very nice and reliable finished product.
This Failure can produce the same symptoms as burlap deterioration. You may also here a clanky sound when you sit down. This could also be a broken spring.
As foam ages it breaks down becoming hard and brittle which can leave you with a sandy mess on the floor.
